Our School

St Matthew's C of E Primary and Nursery is located in the heart of Derriford, Plymouth. We have the benefit of being a modern site that opened its doors in 2016

This modern school building houses a large hall with breakout space, a dance studio, art room, fully equipped library, sensory room, large well-resourced classrooms with beautiful views and excellent ICT facilities and a superb nursery unit. Our early year's classrooms each come with their own secure outside areas for the children to experience a full range of environments safely. There is a school kitchen which prepares fresh and healthy meals and snacks daily for the children with at least 3 meal choices which can be selected by our parents.

The school has a very large wrap around playground, MUGA, forest school, allotment area and two trim trails for physical education and outdoor learning. The school site is being continually improved, in particular, our outdoor areas where we aim to install a new section every year, this year it will be an outdoor gym!

We are an inclusive school and make adaptations where possible to support all our children. There are hearing loops in the school halls and lifts to support wheelchair access across the site to support our children with disabilities. High visibility strips are used where there are steps or changes in levels as an aid to the visually impaired.
